For adventuring parties with a few too many enemies or with some item that they’d rather keep away from adversaries, a short diversion to Stormreach can be just the thing. But many of the greatest mysteries remain unanswered. Many pirates and other nefarious types also call the Harbor home making this a frequent stop for visitors.
For many years it was ruled by “The Storm Lords”, five pirate lords who held almost absolute power and passed down their title hereditarily, though they worked in close association with the Dragonmarked Houses. The small outpost grew and prospered, as did the piracy it supported on the Thunder Sea.
Whoever began the settlement, it soon became a joint venture, with many pirate captains contributing resources to the new town in return for sanctuary within its harbour and access to its businesses. The city grew wilder and wider.

Thousands of years later, the sahuagin of the Thunder Sea came to Stormreach. The sahuagin were ultimately driven from the city by a group of stone giants called the Fallen Stone.
